Ninjaman and His Son Found Guilty Of Murder

Ninjaman and his son, Jamiel, were found guilty of murder in the Home Circuit Court on Monday.

The dancehall legend, real name Desmond Ballentine, his Jamiel, and Dennis Clayton were found guilty by a seven-member jury who deliberated for three hours. According to the prosecution, the three men murdered 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson, aka Ricky Trooper, from Marl Road, Kingston 13 in March 2009. The three weeks trial was held in camera behind closed doors, which means the public or the media did not have access to the courtroom.

Ninjaman, 51, and his two co-accused are facing life imprisonment for the crime. He will be back before the judge next month for his sentencing hearing and is currently behind bars. During the month-long trial, the prosecution introduced seven witnesses including a man who is in witness protection who testified that the three men fired two shots at him but he ran for his life. He was the star witness for the prosecution who argued that on the day of the murder, the three men had an argument with Johnson who was sweeping a yard on Marl Road. The men then left the scene and returned a short while later with guns blazing.

Following an investigation, cops arrested Ninjaman and his co-accused. The dancehall deejay was granted a JM$2 million bail in 2012 following numerous delays in the trial. The case has seen 23 mentions in the court and 17 delays up until last month when a judged revoked the deejay’s bail and ordered the trial be concluded. The murder case was tried in a special court that deals with cases over five years old with Justice Martin Gayle presiding over the high profile case.

Ninjaman and his two co-accused have maintained their innocence and will likely appeal the conviction. He will likely be housed in the same Tower Street prison as Vybz Kartel.

Who is Ninjaman?

Ninjaman is one of the pioneers of hardcore dancehall music. The famed deejay was born in Annotto Bay, Jamaica, on January 20, 1966. He then moved to Kingston at the age of 12 and started deejaying at the age of 14 under the name “Double Ugly” while working with some local sound systems like Black Culture.

He changed his name in 1980 to Ninjaman and started deejaying on Killamanjaro sound system. That same year he released his debut single “Uglyman” and started being around artists like Early B and Super Cat who were established acts at the time. By the mid-1980s, Ninjaman started recording and producing himself and there he found his breakout hit “Protection” a song that features Courtney Melody. That song elevated his profile as a dancehall artist and from there he started working with producers like Ini Kamoze, Philip “Fatis” Burrell, Steely & Clevie, Bobby Digital, and King Jammy.

In the late 80s to early 90s, Ninjaman scored a number of hit songs and established himself as a clash artist thanks to his notorious clash with Supercat at Sting 1991. That clash is down in history as one of the most fierce lyrical battles in dancehall history.

Regalo – Karla Estrada

Lyrics of Regalo – Karla Estrada

Minamasdan ang ilaw na patay sindi
Tulala sa harap ng krismas tree
Balewala ang ganda’t kinang
Kapag nag-iisa

Naririnig ka gandang mga tinig
Ng mga batang nagkakaroling
Ngunit kulang ang sayang
Dapat na nararamdaman

Ikaw sana, ngayong pasko’y kapiling
Nangangarap sabay tayong nilalamig
Walang ibang hinihiling ang puso ko
Sanay yakap mo ang regalo ko
Ngayong pasko

Hinahanap haplos mo sa aking pisngi
Sa lamig tuwing magsisimbang gabi
Kailan kaya muling mararamdaman
Ang pagmamahal

Ikaw sana, ngayong pasko’y kapiling
Nangangarap sabay tayong nilalamig
Walang ibang hinihiling ang puso ko
Sanay yakap mo ang regalo ko
Ngayong pasko

Ikaw sana, ngayong pasko’y kapiling
Nangangarap sabay tayong nilalamig
Walang ibang hinihiling ang puso ko
Sanay yakap mo, sanay yakap mo

Ang regalo ko ngayong pasko

Ninja Man Reacts To Murder Conviction Dancehall Icon To Appeal

Ninjaman has shared his reaction to his murder conviction on Monday.

The guilty verdict sent shock waves throughout the dancehall community as another well known figure in the genre is staring down a life imprisonment sentence. “A suh it go, man,” Ninjaman told reporters as he was leaving the Supreme Court on Monday. The dancehall deejay was escorted back to jail by a heavy contingent of police personnel.

“Don’t f*** with me Jamaica, I’ll be back!” the deejay added. Ninjaman, born Desmond Ballentine, his son Janiel, and Dennis Clayton, were all found guilty of the murder of 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson, who was shot and killed on Marl Road, Kingston 13, in March 2009. Another man managed to escape the gunfire and has now returned to testify in the murder case. He was placed in the witness protection program for his safety.

Sources close to the dancehall legend told Dancehall HipHop that he plans to appeal the conviction. “The Gorgon (Ninjaman) ago appeal this injustice,” sources said. “They have this case hanging over the man head for almost ten years and now they want to send him to prison for a crime he never did.”

Appeal in Jamaica can take up to five years to get a mention in the Court of Appeal. His attorney, Valerie Neita Robertosn, did not comment on the case.

Atlanta Rapper Bambino Gold’s Body Found In Alabama

Atlanta rapper Bambino Gold’s body was found in Alabama two weeks after he went missing.

The news sent shock waves in the local Atlanta hip hop community. On November 7, Bambino, whose real name is Edward Reeves, and his cousin Kendrick Stokes were reported missing and cops launched an investigation into their disappearance. Sadly, over the weekend, both men bodies were found just miles apart in Alabama, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Details surrounding the incident is still sketchy, but cops are treating their death as a homicide.

Bambino Gold and Kendrick Stokes bodies were found in a wooded area in Macon County, just 40 miles east of Montgomery, Alabama. The first body was found off County Road 13 and the second body was discovered off Highway 80, just four miles from where the first body was discovered. The two men were last seen driving a white 2016 Honda CR-V with Georgia license plates on their way to Alabama. Know one knows what happened to them after they left Georgia, but it appears that they were kidnapped and killed.

Family members told police that they have been unable to reach the rapper and his cousin since November 7th. Cops are pleading with anyone with information to come forward.

Artist manager Migo, who managed Rae Sremmurd, took to Instagram to plead with the public for help solving the crime. “No matter what’s going on in the streets nobody deserves to be taken from their family,” Migo wrote. “We have to figure out how to resolve conflicts/problems without taking someone’s life. I been knowing @bambinogoldgpt since he was like 16 it’s sad to see this. We got to do better. We want everyone else to to do better for us but we can’t do right in our own community. RIP.”

G-Eazy – Love Is Gone Lyrics

[Chorus: Drew Love]
It’s hard to sleep these days
The sounds of all the screams keep me awake
Love is gone, love is gone
[?] tear we break, stand by and watch us all go up in flames
Love is gone, love is gone (uh, yeah)

[Verse 1]
Shit, the world is a flame
We worry about materials and the simplest things
When cops are killing people, and can’t take the blame
They get acquitted, then you wonder why all the people rage, stupid
We all keep praying for peace, praying for progress
If you live in the hills then you stay in the projects
So folks won’t listen if they think what I’m saying is conscious
They’d rather hear me turning up on some simpler topics
Yeah so what’s my place and my idol line
Then speaking what’s going on, and saying what’s on my mind
This shit is fucked up, plus it’s happening all the time
My job, as a rapper is to entertain, we tryna shine
I’m not no politician, but they listen to somebody informal
All the kids gotta find out whats really important
I got a platform and a voice and a stage to perform on
Music could be a good escape, but outside it’s been storming

[Chorus: Drew Love]
It’s hard to sleep these days
The sounds of all the screams keep me awake
Love is gone, love is gone
[?] tear we break, stand by and watch us all go up in flames
Love is gone, love is gone (yeah, uh)

[Verse 2]
As I sit in the studio, guess the thinking this
If the statement’s too crazy then should I finish this
Or if my image is pretty, don’t wanna blemish this
Or ever split up my fans, reduce my relevance
Pay attention and understand what the premise is
Everything not gravy, we can’t pretend it is
So I salute YG, fuck the president
Cuz he a fucking racist supported by white supremacists
Fuck Donald, go back to this running businesses
We all wishing somehow we could’ve prevented this
Until we all love each other nobody benefits
Minorities and Feminists, Trans, Gays and Immigrants
The government mix politics and religiousness
So a man’s body’s more free than a woman’s is
The anger is real, the riots are limitless
And nothing’s gonna change ’til we killing off all this ignorance

[Chorus: Drew Love]
It’s hard to sleep these days
The sounds of all the screams keep me awake
Love is gone, love is gone
[?] tear we break, stand by and watch us all go up in flames
Love is gone, love is gone

[Outro: Drew Love]
Monsters we’ve turned into monsters
How do we get the way we are
How do we get the way we are
How do we get the way we are
Our conscience, we lost it
How do we get the way we are
How do we get the way we are
How do we get the way we are
We are, we are
How do we get the way we are
We are, we are
How do we get the way we are
We are, we are
How do we get the way we are
We are, we are
How do we get the way we are

[Intro]
Lil Purpp, aye this shit sound Smokepurpp as fuck
Lil Purpp bless yo trap
Oh my God, Ronny

[Chorus]
Damn, I geek a lot, I geek a lot and a lot

I pop a bean and get racks at the bank

[Chorus]
Damn, I geek a lot, I geek a lot and a lot
I’m off the Xan, pour the Wok
And I got VVS diamonds my watch
Stop tryin’ come in my spot

I’m off the bean, not the Wok
Damn, I geek a lot, I geek a lot and a lot
I’m off the Xan, pour the Wok
And I got VVS diamonds my watch
Stop tryin’ come in my spot
I want the brain, want the top
Tell one to come in my spot
I’m off the bean, not the Wok

OMB Peezy – Doin Bad (feat. Youngboy Never Broke Again)

[Verse 1: OMB Peezy]
I been goin’ through some things
Said can I take some time and vent?
I was strugglin’, now I got different struggles now that I’m gettin’ rich
Ain’t that a shame, how rugged this shit get
Bet they see a nigga with a stack or somethin’ and they beg to suck a nigga’s dick
Been through the rain
You’ll watch a nigga get soaked
That’s your brother nigga, say you love the nigga
How you watch a nigga stay broke?
Same way I came, I ain’t changing up on my bros
Know a nigga that I called brother talking to them other niggas, breaking codes
Niggas be lame, so I’m gon’ paralyze ’em for real
Came a long way from popping them pills
Play the wrong way and I’ll get you killed
Fuckin’ the fame, I signed a deal for them bills
Tote the paper, I show up where you live
Have them things clapping just like a seal
Can’t nobody understand how it feel
All this money cannot dry up your tears
I be paranoid, how we gon’ chill?
Fuck the road, I be watching the mirror
Grip the Glock, got my knee on the wheel
This shit for real
Nobody gon’ care ’til you thumbing through a mil
‘Cause don’t nobody love you when you doing bad
They forget about the times you had, look
‘Cause when you go broke they leave you in the past
You know, good things, they don’t ever last, Peezy

[Chorus: OMB Peezy]
Don’t nobody love you when you doing bad
They forget about the times you had
Ain’t nobody gon’ hold you down like you, that’s a fact
Time to move forward and stop looking back
But I’m going through some things my nigga
(My nigga, been going through some things)
Kinda hard to ease the pain my nigga
(My nigga, kinda hard to ease the pain)
I been goin’ through some things my nigga

[Verse 2: YoungBoy Never Broke Again]
Man I swear that they ain’t feelin’ my pain
I just smile through it all, you know that I won’t change, ayy
For so long I been stuck in the rain
I been chasing after money before I was a teen, yeah
This for the ones look up to me, just do your own thing
This shit look good but I promise it ain’t what it seems
I’m on the road with my team tryna catch my dream
These niggas hatin’, they don’t like me, they wanna kill me
But I’m like fuck ’em, I’m country, YoungBoy you know I be thuggin’
Me and my niggas we on it, you run up on me I buss it
Fuck a handout, remember they ain’t wan’ give me nothing
I’ma stand out and never ask these rappers for nothing

Nigga death before dishonor, I do this for the youngins

[Chorus: OMB Peezy]
Don’t nobody love you when you doing bad
They forget about the times you had
Ain’t nobody gon’ hold you down like you, that’s a fact
Time to move forward and stop looking back
But I’m going through some things my nigga
(My nigga, been going through some things)
Kinda hard to ease the pain my nigga
(My nigga, kinda hard to ease the pain)
I been goin’ through some things my nigga

[Verse 3: OMB Peezy]
This shit deeper than ever

People been callin’ me crazy, ain’t been talkin’, I’m tryna get it together
Sweat more hard, been [?], say you gon’ leave them whatever
Say you gon’ leave them whatever, people done left me in the rain without an umbrella
Have you ever been in a ho cell dialing numbers and nobody can help ya?
Summertime sleeping in the fuckin’ car, skin stick to the leather
When me and the judge was goin’ to fuckin’ war you wouldn’t send me a letter

[Bridge: OMB Peezy]
When I was out there on that block you told me I should do better
Now I’m tryna get up to the top, you won’t stop a lil nigga
I swear them leeches will suck your ass dry if you let ’em
And when it hurt ain’t nobody gon’ stop unless you tell ’em
When I was out there on that block you told me I should do better
Now I’m tryna get up to the top, you won’t stop a lil nigga
I swear them leeches will suck your ass dry if you let ’em
And when it hurt ain’t nobody gon’ stop unless you tell ’em

[Chorus: OMB Peezy]
Don’t nobody love you when you doing bad
They forget about the times you had
Ain’t nobody gon’ hold you down like you, that’s a fact
Time to move forward and stop looking back
But I’m going through some things my nigga
(My nigga, been going through some things)
Kinda hard to ease the pain my nigga
(My nigga, kinda hard to ease the pain)
Don’t nobody love you when you doing bad
They forget about the times you had
Ain’t nobody gon’ hold you down like you, that’s a fact
Time to move forward and stop looking back
But I’m going through some things my nigga
(My nigga, been going through some things)
Kinda hard to ease the pain my nigga
(My nigga, kinda hard to ease the pain)
I been goin’ through some things my nigga

Fall Out Boy – Yule Shoot Your Eye Out

These are your good years
Don’t take my advice
You never wanted the nice boys anyway
And I’m of good cheer
Cause I’ve been checking my list
The gifts you’re receiving from me
Will be
One awkward silence
And two hopes you cry yourself to sleep
Staying up, waiting by the phone
And all I want this year is for you to dedicate your last breath to me
Before you bury yourself alive
Don’t come home for Christmas
You’re the last thing I want to see
Underneath the tree
Merry Christmas, I could care less
Happy new years baby
You owe me the best gift I will ever ask for
Don’t call me up, when the snow comes down
It’s the only thing I want this year
One awkward silence
And two hopes you cry yourself to sleep
Staying up, waiting by the phone
All I want this year is for you to dedicate your last breathe to me
Before you bury yourself alive
Don’t come home for Christmas
You’re the last thing I want to see
Underneath the tree
Merry Christmas, I could care less
Don’t come home for Christmas
You’re the last thing I want to see
Underneath the tree (don’t come home for Christmas)
Merry Christmas, I could care less
Don’t come home for Christmas
You’re the last thing I want to see
Underneath the tree (don’t come home for Christmas)
Merry Christmas, I could care less

Cam – Diane (Lyric Video)

[Chorus]
Oh, I promise I didn’t know he was your man
I would have noticed a gold wedding band
Diane
I’d rather you hate me than not understand
Oh, Diane

[Verse 1]
You pick the time and the place
Dont know how much this hurts
I gave him my heart to break
Now I know he broke yours first
Lyin’ right there in my bed
While he was lying to you
Believing the words that he said
How could we be such fools?

[Pre-Chorus]
And all those nights that he’s given to me
I wish that I could give them back to you

[Chorus]
Diane
I promise I didn’t know he was your man
I would have noticed a gold wedding band
Diane
I’d rather you hate me than not understand
Oh, Diane

[Verse 2]
You can blame me if it helps
That’s what a good wife would do
But you’re only cheating yourself
Choosing him over the truth

[Pre-Chorus]
And all those nights that he’s given to me
I wish that I could give them back to you

[Chorus]
Diane
I promise I didn’t know he was your man
I would have noticed a gold wedding band
Diane
I’d rather you hate me than not understand
Oh, Diane

[Bridge]
Oh, woah
Diane, Diane
Oh, woah
Diane
Oh, I’d rather you hate me then not understand
Oh, Diane

[Outro]
And all those nights that he’s given to me
I wish that I could give them back to you

Willie The Kid & V Don – Blue Notes

[Intro:]
You wanna know what was happening
While you were living it up in Mali or Cali or Yahweh whatever it is
There was 15 murders the first week and 21 last week in this Goddamn city
You know decent people are gonna have to work here and live somewhere else
[By decent people you mean people who can afford to live somewhere else]
For Christ you are such a bleeding heart Liberal
[My heart bleeds a little for the underprivileged, yeah]
If I was at the field they’d be back in the war zone
[?] Hawaii
[Seemed pretty good until they ran in the sand and used to live with the crime rate statistics]
No what this city needs is more police than people

[Verse 1:]
Yeah! Yo yeah
Witness me making eclipse
Bake pies at red night escaping ma myth
Swore 4 plus 5 oracle bore gift
Plus explore your life show you how the lords spit
Since 79 held the spine order more clips
Worked with los Orvich try to build him a bridge
That shit collapsed with ma back fucking the ribs
Get blasted for looking all grand in front of ma crib
Sit back close your legs drown in the box
Pound up with 2 Glocks, dumb out with the Ox
The fluids out shoot it out till sundown with the cops
No running we [?] the world is mine on a yacht
Soon they probly find me like a body in a lot with blue suites behind me
With the shotty pulled cop
New suites in lobby and we value all flocks
Never recent quotes preaching for that Jack Iglesias
Told Torres like Papi Mase and catching cases but they cold
Employees know the faces who to stretch and who to fold
Get old eat off rap manifest all gold
Plots for more gold and Grey robbers playing dominoes
Got Raul put you in piece caplo waiting at ma home
So sick no pharmacist would enter the room
New York trip PA flab foot [?]
I’m off it playing in salon resting ma wound
Ma talk spit body outlined floating in June

[Chorus:]
Where am coming from [Yeah! bronze man]

Now we don’t touch the steering wheel Rover with the chauffeur
I’m in Muskegon Jet-skiing for the weekend
On the lake shore, told ma niggas make sure this time everything remain genuine
See ma end your windows continuing
Move like a bed wind
Breakfast in bed pop Spades no bentwisch a bad bitch wiska bisque
Yeah! Despite the madness i’m perfectly insane. Psycho-telepathic
Telepathy, rooms full of sneakers closets full of Jings
Bring Jackets on the bed fuck it I ain’t sleeping anyway
Jewels by the penny way I’m more than ready

[Chorus:]

U2 – American Soul (Lyric Video)

[Intro: Kendrick Lamar]
Blessed are the bullies
For one day they will have to stand up to themselves
Blessed are the liars
For the truth can be awkward

[Verse 1: Bono]
It’s not a place
This country is to me a sound
Of drum and bass
You close your eyes to look around

[Bridge 1: Bono]
Look around, look around
Look around, it’s a sound
Look around, look around
It’s a sound

[Verse 2: Bono]
It’s not a place
This country is to me a thought
That offers grace
For every welcome that is sought

[Chorus: Bono]
You are rock and roll
You and I are rock and roll
You are rock and roll
Came here looking for American soul

[Verse 3: Bono]
It’s not a place
This is a dream the whole world owns
The pilgrim’s face
It had your heart to call her home

[Refrain]
[?]
Dream on [?]
[?] dreams get me sleepin’

[Chorus: Bono]
You are rock and roll
You and I are rock and roll
You are rock and roll
Came here looking for American soul
American, American

[Bridge 2: Bono]
Put your hands in the air
Hold on the sky
Could be too late, but we still gotta try
There’s a moment in our life where a soul can die
And the person in a country when you believe the lie
The lie (the lie, the lie)
There’s a promise in the heart of every good dream
It’s a call to action, not to fantasy
The end of a dream, the start of what’s real
Let it be unity, let it be community
For refugees like you and me
A country to receive us
Will you be our sanctuary
Refu-Jesus

[Chorus: Bono]
You are rock and roll
You and I are rock and roll
You are rock and roll
Came here looking for American soul
You are rock and roll
You and I are rock and roll
You are rock and roll
Came here looking for American soul
American soul, American soul

Lindsey Stirling – Christmas C’mon (feat. Becky G)

[Verse 1: Becky G]
Counting the days, waited all year
Sit back and celebrate when Christmas time is near
Once, too soon, I bought your gift in May
Can’t believe we’re here on my favorite holiday

[Pre-Chorus: Becky G]
There’s been times before you wish for so much more
When I was down and filled with doubt, I had you
And we made it through the year, it’s so good to be here

[Chorus: Becky G]
So we put it in a song, dance the way we want, turn the fire on
Baby, we can hang it up together, give to one another
Snuggle through the weather
Baby, Christmas, c’mon
Baby, Christmas, c’mon

[Verse 2: Becky G]
Put the star on the tree
Let the record spin while dancing next to me
Keep me warm from the snow
Under the mistletoe, we’ll watch the fire glow

[Pre-Chorus: Becky G]
There’s been times before you wish for so much more
When I was down and filled with doubt, I had you
And we made it through the year, it’s so good to be here

[Chorus: Becky G]
So we put it in a song, dance the way we want, turn the fire on
Baby, we can hang it up together, give to one another
Snuggle through the weather
Baby, Christmas, c’mon
Baby, Christmas, c’mon

[Bridge: Becky G]
We made it through the year, it’s so good to be here

[Chorus: Becky G]
So we put it in a song, dance the way we want, turn the fire on
Baby, we can hang it up together, give to one another
Snuggle through the weather
Baby, Christmas, c’mon
So we put it in a song, dance the way we want, turn the fire on
Baby, we can hang it up together, give to one another
Snuggle through the weather
Baby, Christmas, c’mon, yeah (Baby Christmas)
Baby, Christmas, c’mon
