There are just some moments the cameras miss.
Such was the case Monday night at the annual NAACP Image Awards, hosted once again this year by black-ish actor Anthony Anderson and packed with a star-studded audience of celebrated nominees.
While fans watched from home as Angela Robinson, Kerry Washington, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Laverne Cox, Lena Waithe and Tracee Ellis Rosshelped open the show with a moving tribute to the Time’s Up movement, as Daniel Kaluuya was named Outstanding Actor for his performance in Get Out, as Ava DuVernay was honored as the NAACP Entertainer of the Year and as Andra Day serenaded the crowd, there were some moments those sitting on their couches couldn’t catch. Fortunately, we have the inside scoop from Monday’s main event.
Kate Middleton looked pretty in pink while visiting Coventry, England with Prince William on Tuesday.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a hot pink Mulberry coat to the royal engagement—the same coat she wore during her 2014 visit to New York, as well as during her final appearance before the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015.
The coat covered Kate’s growing baby bump. The Duchess is pregnant with the couple’s third child and is expected to give birth in April.
To stay warm, Kate accessorized her look with black tights and black gloves. She also wore black heels and carried a black clutch.
At long last, Jamie-Lynn Sigler has given birth!
The Sopranos actress announced her son’s late arrival via Instagram Tuesday. “He’s here. Jack Adam Dykstra we will talk about your tardiness eventually, but for now we’ve got a lot of love to give,” she wrote. “Thanks to my besties for helping me laugh and smile and to my husband [Cutter Dykstra] for just being my rock.” The newborn joins older brother Beau Kyle Dykstra, 4.
The actress did not share other details, including her son’s birthdate, measurement and weight.
Keira Knightley is more likely to star in a period piece than a movie set in modern times—and for good reason. As the actress explains in the new issue of Variety, she feels female characters are often treated better in historical dramas. “I don’t really do films set in the modern day because the female characters nearly always get raped. I always find something distasteful in the way women are portrayed, whereas I’ve always found very inspiring characters offered to me in historical pieces. There’s been some improvement. I’m suddenly being sent scripts with present-day women who aren’t raped in the first five pages and aren’t simply there to be the loving girlfriend or wife,” she says. Thanks to production studios like Amazon and Netflix, she adds, “We’re seeing some strong female characters and female stories on streaming services.”
In the current climate, Knightley says, it’s especially important to create strong, layered roles for women. As many of her peers come forward with stories of sexual abuse and harassment, she says, “What’s been really interesting is that it’s not just this industry—it’s in every industry.”
Seal has denied allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
“Seal vehemently denies the recent accusations made against him by a former neighbor for alleged misconduct of more than a year ago,” a rep for the 54-year-old “Kiss From a Rose” singer told E! News Tuesday. “He intends to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations.”
According to TMZ, Tracey Birdsall, 54, was a neighbor of Seal’s back in the Fall of 2016 and had developed a friendship with the singer. She told the celebrity news outlet Seal forced himself on her and attempted to kiss her while she was visiting his Los Angeles home to retrieve a salad spinner she had lent him. Birdsall claimed Seal then belittled her for wearing a tank top and shorts and began to grope her breasts. She told TMZ she told him to stop.
Per TMZ’s report, Seal then asked Birdsall to sit next to him on a couch. Birdsall told the media outlet she complied and was then belittled and groped by Seal again. She claimed she then left and didn’t talk to him again.
TMZ wrote that “a source with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept” took a report on Saturday for sexual battery and that the alleged incident is under investigation.
E! News reached out to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department, as well as to Birdsall regarding the allegations. The Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department confirmed Seal is a suspect in an alleged incident of sexual battery that allegedly took place in November 2016 and is currently under investigation.
The next phrase, however, needed some censoring. “I’m not supposed to teach you this,” Cruz told the host. When DeGeneres asked what it meant, the actress assured her, “It’s better if you just learn it and trust me.”
While we don’t know quite what the mystery phrase was, the chyron on the screen read, “We can’t show the translation on TV.” Oops!
Though Cruz may be an expert in Spanish, she’s recently had to try her hand at somewhat of another language, too—English with an Italian accent! To portray Donatella Versace in the upcoming FX series, Cruz tried her hand at the famed designer’s signature sound.
Baby No.3 is here for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and boy, was it a bumpy road!
From dealing with placenta accreta after she gave birth to North West to suffering from preeclampsia while pregnant with Saint West, Kim’s been through the ringer when it comes to carrying those cute babies! Luckily, Kimye did their research and now they’re “really thankful” they went down the surrogacy route to complete their family of five.
While we patiently await all the must-see pics of their baby girl, let’s take a look back at the journey Kim took to get here!
“We’re in this watershed moment, and it’s great, but I think one thing that’s not being talked about is there are a whole s–tload of guys—the preponderance of men I’ve worked with—who don’t do this kind of thing and whose lives aren’t going to be affected,” Damon shared with the publication. “If I have to sign a sexual-harassment thing, I don’t care, I’ll sign it. I would have signed it before. I don’t do that, and most of the people I know don’t do that.”
On Tuesday, Damon appeared on Today and addressed his previous comments with Kathie Lee Gifford.
“I really wish I’d listened a lot more before I weighed in on this,” Damon said Tuesday. “I don’t want to further anybody’s pain with anything that I do or say. So for that I am really sorry.”
PBS is taking a look at the #MeToo movement with a new five-part series, #MeToo, Now What? executive produced and hosted by Zainab Salbi. Announced by PBS at the 2018 TCA winter press tour, the half-hour series aims to go beyond the headlines about sexual harassment and will ask how we got here and how we as a society moves forward.
“In order for this conversation to create true cultural change, we must talk with the man on the street, in our lives, our colleagues and friends,” Salbi said in a statement. “Equally, we need to have the conversation with the women in our lives to examine why, when we’ve seen sexual misconduct, we’ve often looked the other way when it didn’t impact us directly.”
Sorry Arie, two of your ladies are ready to move on!
OK, so Arie Luyendyk Jr. technically sent them home on The Bachelor, but season 22 contestants Bibiana and Lauren G. are heading to The Bachelor Winter Games, the franchise’s latest spinoff, in the hopes of finding love on the slopes.
The two women round out the cast for the spinoff, set to debut on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Here’s the cutest thing you’ll see today!
Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova managed to keep their pregnancy a complete secret, but the “EL Baño” singer just did something unexpected and shared the first photo of one of his twins.
“My sunshine”, he captioned the touching photo with his newborn child.
An hour later, the former tennis star shared a different photo with the other twin baby along with the same caption, “My sunshine.”
In December the couple became parents for the first time and welcomed twins, a boy and a girl.
According to TMZ, the twins are named Nicholas and Lucy. The former professional tennis player gave birth on December 16, 2017, in Miami.
This news will come as a surprise to many fans of the low-key couple, who managed to keep the pregnancy private for nine months! Anna, 36, and singer Enrique, 42, have been together for 16 years and are clearly very good at keeping their relationship very private.
Arnold Schwarzenegger called Eliza Dushku “courageous” for speaking out about her sexual molestation allegations against stunt coordinator Joel Kramer.
On Jan. 14, Tom Arnold, who starred alongside Dushku and Schwarzenegger in the 1994 film True Lies, tweeted he, director James Cameron and co-star Jamie Lee Curtis “would’ve done something” had they known about the allegations.
Yesterday, Schwarzenegger replied by writing, “Tom, you bet your ass all of us would have done something. I’m shocked and saddened for Eliza but I am also proud of her – beyond being a great talent and an amazing woman, she is so courageous.”
Javi Marroquin and Briana DeJesus have called it quits.
The Teen Mom 2 stars have ended their relationship, Briana confirmed Tuesday on Instagram. She also told Blasting News, “Javi and I are not together anymore. Our future just doesn’t line up. He doesn’t want me to get my surgery for a breast lift, lipo, and tummy tuck (which I’m doing in two weeks) because it’ll look bad on his name at work. Also, I don’t plan on moving in with him in the summer and for these reasons, he broke up with me.”
She then shared, “I have no bad things to say to about him. He wanted a wife and home right now and I didn’t see a reason to rush. I wish him the best going forward, and I am sad things panned out this way, but this is where things currently stand. Again, we are no longer together.”
Dakota Johnson is used to baring it all onscreen, but that doesn’t mean the actress is any less terrified.
In Allure’s “New Naked” issue, the Fifty Shades Freed star describes how the famous franchise helped shape her into the actress—and woman—she is today.
“Throughout this entire experience, I’ve learned that I can expose my heart and my emotions and I can still protect myself. I can still be vulnerable and strong. It’s a constant ebb and flow and a battle and trying to figure out how to have those things coexist within me,” she says. “That’s what I’m grateful for.”
Despite the confidence Johnson displays on screen, she tells Allure, “Fundamentally, I’m open and warm. At my core, I’m a bleeding heart. But when your life is exposed and when the movie that exposes your life is exposing your emotions and your body, it can be very scary.”
The fears associated with roles such as Anastasia Steele never keep her from following through on a project.
“I don’t know how to explain it in a way that doesn’t sound hokey, but when I’m on a project, I’m on it for a certain reason, and I’m involved with the people for a reason.” She continues, “It’s always some sort of weird marriage to something that’s happening in my life, or the character has some connection to something that’s going on [in my life].”
Today, Ann Curry is doing better than ever.
It’s been five years since the journalist left NBC’s Today, and now, for the first time ever, she’s finally ready to talk about it. “It hurt like hell…but I’m stronger now,” she says in People‘s Jan. 29 issue, on newsstands Friday. Curry, who reportedly lacked “chemistry” with Matt Lauer, is not bitter about her exit. “I’m not going to say it wasn’t hard,” she admits. “But I had to let go.”
Curry says she eventually learned to look for life lessons in every experience, “no matter how bad,” by embracing them with “arms wide open.” Do that, she says, and “that’s when you rise.”
