Truth be told: Octavia Spencer always brings it on the red carpet.
In anticipation of the Oscars 2018, you can be sure that the Shape of Water star won’t hold back, because she has a lot to celebrate and so many will be celebrating her. For one, with her third “Best Supporting Actress” nomination, she’s joining Viola Davis and Whoopi Goldberg as the most nominated African-American women in the history of the award ceremony. And, within that category, she is the first black woman to gain multiple nods from the academy after her initial win for The Help.
With her talent, accomplishments and continuous grace, the actress deserves to wear a gown that has a similar impact to the one she’s had on Hollywood.
Donald Trump fired back at Alec Baldwin on Twitter on Friday after the actor said playing the president on Saturday Night Live was “agony.”
Baldwin made the comment during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Every time I do it now, it’s like agony. Agony,” he told the media outlet about playing the commander-in-chief. “I can’t. If things don’t go in the right direction for the midterms. … I could go out on the street, stand on any corner and tap 10 people on the shoulder. And all 10 of them, in all likelihood, would be more qualified—ethically, morally, intellectually and spiritually—than Trump.”
Trump was so quick to respond to Baldwin’s comments that he misspelled the actor’s first name, as well as the word “dying.”
“Alex Baldwin, whose dieing mediocre career was saved by his impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing DJT was agony for him. Alex, it was also agony for those who were forced to watch,” he tweeted. “You were terrible. Bring back Darrell Hammond, much funnier and a far greater talent.”
Hammond played Trump on the late-night comedy show before Baldwin.
The book helps Carol rekindle the flame with her husband (Craig T. Nelson), while Sharon decides to give online dating a go—but if the trailer is any indication, she may come to regret it. When Diane decides to start dating again, her three best friends offer their unwavering support—so, they help her pick out something “sexy” to wear and spy on her handsome suitor.
Director Bill Holderman co-wrote the script with Erin Simms. Ed Begley Jr., Tommy Dewey, Andy García, Don Johnson, Wallace Shawn and Alicia Silverstone round out the ensemble cast.
“I had a 10 minute conversation with Sarah and that’s offensive?” Kourt asks.
“Yes, because we’re only here once. When are we ever gonna go back to Alcatraz?” Khloe insists.
Things get even more heated when Khloe calls Kourtney a “f–king bitch.”
“Fuck you, you f–king whore!” Kourt yells back. Yikes!
See the dramatic war of words above!
In just about every onscreen (and real life) love story, couples experience a make-or-break conflict.
It’s in the face of adversity that they create a strong foundation for continued growth—or, they fall apart at the seams. Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon are a duo who fall into both categories. And they’re the even rarer couple who turned their own love story into an Oscar-nominated film.
The film they co-wrote, The Big Sick, was a critical and commercial hit, having grossed roughly $56.1 million since its release last year—surprising even the married couple. (Spoiler alert!)
Meanwhile, Nanjiani originally just “wanted the movie to play well at Sundance and I wanted audiences to like it here.” He told The Frame last summer, “I wasn’t thinking beyond that. If we get that, we’ll be a success and I’ll be so excited. It didn’t even occur to me—bidding. None of that stuff had occurred to me. I would have been more nervous if it had.”
Everyone, meet Gail—Jennifer Lawrence‘s drunk alter ego.
The 27-year-old actress introduced viewers to her drunken persona on Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Gail is the person Lawrence becomes after one too many drinks. Ellen DeGeneres showed a picture of the alter ego as a visual. When the host asked the Red Sparrow star why she named her alter ego Gail, Lawrence replied, “I didn’t. She almost named herself. I think my girlfriends probably named her Gail—probably by the way I look. And it’s a very specific drunk [look], too. It’s not just like every time I’m drunk I turn into this.”
Wanting to see if Gail could come out and play, DeGeneres had one of her staff members bring Lawrence a whole tray of cocktails.
“I can’t. I really can’t,” she objected before reaching for a drink. “I’ll take this one.”
Aly Raisman is taking legal action.
The Olympic gymnast, who has been publicly outspoken about her discontent with the United States Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics’s handling of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar‘s sexual abuse scandal, has officially filed a lawsuit against the the organization and committee.
“I refuse to wait any longer for these organizations to do the right thing,” the 23-year-old said in a statement to NBC News. “It is my hope that the legal process will hold them accountable and enable the change that is so desperately needed.”
In the documents filed on Wednesday in Calif., Raisman claims USA Gymnastics and USOC knew or should have known that Nassar had been sexually abusive toward minors, but put “their quest for money and medals above the safety” of Raisman and other minor competitive athletes. The documents further state that Raisman is informed and believes that the USOC was aware “at the highest levels of its organization” that Nassar molested Olympian and National Team level gymnasts. The lawsuit alleges that USAG, USOC and the other defendants, former USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny and former USAG Chairman of the Board of Directors Paul Parrilla never intervened to discipline Nassar and allowed him to continue in his position of “trust, power and access” to elite minor athletes, including Raisman, until he was finally removed from his position.
Josh Lucas and Uma Thurman may play husband and wife in the Broadway show The Parisian Woman, but the actors claim they haven’t developed a romance off-stage.
After Page Six reported the two were caught kissing in New York’s Theater District, Thurman and Lucas spoke out about the rumors.
“I would be so honored, but, alas, we just play husband and wife in The Parisian Woman and he’s the best fake husband ever,” Thurman told Page Six via her rep.
Lucas also weighed in on the reports.
“I would be so honored!” he told the media outlet. “She is the best stage wife ever, and I hope people think our stage chemistry is so good we must be . . .”
Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall haven’t tied the knot.
Rumors surfaced Friday that the couple of almost three years had wed, but the Ocean’s 8 star’s rep tells People that Bullock and Randall are not married. A source also tells us that the couple hasn’t wed.
The duo, who first started dating in 2015 and moved in together in early 2016, have kept a very low profile throughout their romance.
In the fall of 2016, a source dished to E! News about the actress and the photographer’s relationship and how they weren’t in a rush to get married.
“They are pretty much married the way they act around each other and the amount of time they share with one another,” the insider shared with us.
“I can’t really say much. I can say that sometimes adulation, as we all know, can bleed a little bit into an unhealthy obsession and she’s definitely gone into that territory,” Cameron told E! News about the devotion to the hero. “She’s very, very obsessed with Daisy. I can’t tell you why, I can’t tell you where it goes, I can’t tell you anything. But yeah, she’s very fixated. And Ruby’s not really someone you want to have fixated on you, I guess it what I would say. [Laughs]”
As Cameron tells it, Ruby may be young, but she’s not someone you’d want to tangle with. “I would describe her as incredibly intelligent, incredibly controlled and strong-willed. I would describe her as a recipe of her surroundings and a result of her upbringing and I would describe her as a machine,” Cameron teased. “You know when you meet that personality, they walk into a room and you go, ‘Oh I am terrified of you’ and you have no idea what’s going on in their mind or what they’re going to do next? We all know those people. I would say that’s Ruby. Ruby is very much a reptilian. She’s a very scary girl. But she is a real girl. She’s a 17-year-old girl and she’s complex. There’s a lot of emotion there. She’s very intense.”
Second chances are a beautiful thing.
In a truly ironic move from The Academy, multiple outlets have reported Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will return to present the Best Picture award at the 2018 Oscars. The pair of Hollywood veterans were partly responsible for last year’s infamous mix-up, where La La Land was mistakenly named the Best Picture of 2017 instead of Moonlight.
A collective “WTF?!” could be heard from inside the Dolby Theater (and probably around the world) when La La Land producers realized Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling‘s love story hadn’t actually won the evening’s biggest honor. Turns out Beatty was given the Best Actress card to read, which Stone previously accepted.
The cast and crew of Moonlight then took the stage for one awkward, but nonetheless unforgettable finale to Hollywood’s most anticipated event.
When it comes to being a good husband and father, AJ McLean‘s got it goin’ on.
Just ask Kaitlyn Bristowe. The Bachelorette star sat behind the Backstreet Boys singer on a plane, eavesdropped on his conversation with another man about his wife and two daughters and praised both of them on Twitter. Only she didn’t know that it was McLean. Oops.
“They’re manly men, talking about how they let their wives sleep in, & do their 5 year olds hair for crazy hair day at school,” she tweeted. “You should see them light up looking at each other’s kids. They keep giving their wives credit.”
“They just keep going, speaking with so much love and respect for their families, and they are strangers by the way,” Bristowe said. “I’m love this!!! If only they knew how creepy Im being, smiling like an idiot behind them, telling my twatters all about them. Haha.”
She later said, “AWE THEY JUST SHOOK HANDS. His name is Colin. I didn’t catch the other gems name.” She then posted a photo of the men, writing, “IF THESE ARE YOUR MEN… GOOD FOR YOU they deserve a sneaky pic for cred.” McLean can be seen standing in between two men in the aisle.
Kerry Washington has already found her follow-up to Olivia Pope.
With just a few episodes left in Scandal’s final season, the leading lady has officially found her next TV project, teaming up with Reese Witherspoon to star in and executive produce a limited series adaptation of Celeste Ng‘s best-selling novel Little Fires Everywhere, E! News has confirmed. And yes, for those keeping track at home, this marks Witherspoon’s third (!!) TV series in the works, including the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies and the upcoming untitled Apple series co-starring Jennifer Aniston set in the world of morning TV.
“I get how you can be in situation where you’re like, I have the strongest feelings I’ve ever had for two people and I need to tell them that. I get that you can think it’s the right decision to do it and as humans it’s OK to make the wrong decision. That’s fair, that’s what life’s about. We’re going to learn from it. But we gotta admit to it when we make the wrong decision,” Ben said. “And I want to tell Arie right now like, own this. This is your story, this is how your world played out…I hope God willing this relationship that he’s in right now is something that is meaningful and lasts and is full of love, and this woman that he’s with understands that he was trying his best, and at the end of the day, he picked her and he loves her and she picked him. He needs to own this time and I hope he does that. I hope he keeps his head held high and understands that what he did is something he felt was right in the moment. If it was or wasn’t, it’s not for us to judge. That’s up to him and his relationship.”
Tiffany Haddish is sharing her thoughts on DJ Khaled‘s new song “Top Off” featuring Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Future.
After listening to the track, many fans are speculating that Bey is throwing some shade at the Girls Trip actress during her verse on the song. Social media is particularly curious over the Grammy winner’s line, “If they’re tryna party with the queen, they gon’ have to sign a nondisclosure.”
This comes just weeks after Tiffany dished to TV One’s Uncensored about meeting Beyoncé for the first time and how the singer shut down an actress who touched Jay-Z.
