The Crown made headlines when the wage gap between series star Claire Foy and Doctor Who veteran Matt Smith was revealed, and now the production company behind the Emmy-winning series is speaking out.
In a statement obtained by E! News, Left Bank Pictures apologized to its stars. Foy played Queen Elizabeth II for the first two seasons of the Netflix series. Smith portrayed her on-screen husband, Prince Philip.
“We want to apologize to both Claire Foy and to Matt Smith, brilliant actors and friends, who have found themselves at the center of a media storm this week through no fault of their own. Claire and Matt are incredibly gifted actors who, along with the wider cast on The Crown have worked tirelessly to bring our characters to life with compassion and integrity,” Left Bank Pictures said in a statement.
“They are having me acknowledge reminding her of her independence. It’s coming from her side of family and it’s like, ‘Don’t forget your ability to be independent. You can do things on your own. You don’t have to stay in a situation because of another person or the people,'” Tyler urges. “And it’s basically saying like, ‘Feel free to make this move.’ And that she needs to know this and have like that confidence.”
Fox later reflects on her reading and Tyler’s accuracy. “That is a situation that literally just happened, I think it was two days ago, she started transitioning out of a relationship,” Fox says.
“My mom has always been really relationship-based her whole life and she’s going through a transition there,” Fox tells Tyler. “And I think you know, maybe because of her age, she’s in her 60s, she may worry about that transition.”
Tyler tells Fox he sees her mom “breaking free” and thinks it is time she “start over.” “It’s a positive thing,” he reassures her.

The Stranger Things kids are heading into season three with a major pay raise.
According to Deadline, Finn Wolfhard, Mille Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp and Caleb McLaughlin “have reached or are finalizing agreements that will see their pay increase significantly.” Winona Ryder and David Harbour have reportedly received raises, too.
Deadline claimed the young stars made about $30,000 per episode during the show’s first two seasons. However, that seems to have changed. It’s reporting that the kids’ per-episode fee has increased to more than $200,000 per episode—possibly even $250,000. Brown, who plays the character Eleven, reportedly received the largest salary increase among her young co-stars.
Still, the adult leads Ryder and Harbour are expected to make the most. According to Deadline, the Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper stars are raking in about $300,000 to $350,000 per episode.
However, these aren’t the only cast members expected to get a raise. Deadline reported that Natalie Dryer and Charlie Heaton—who play Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, respectively—are making $100,000 to $150,000 per episode.
Netflix declined Deadline’s request for comment.
The countdown to another Kardashian baby is on!
Mama-to-be Khloe Kardashian is getting comfortable in Cleveland, where she’s long planned to give birth to her first little one. According to a source, that’s less than two weeks away. While she and beau Tristan Thompson await their daughter, there’s still some last-minute work to be done before the baby’s arrival.
“It was a mad rush to get everything to Cleveland and ready,” an insider tells E! News. Not to worry. The expectant star is getting help from her assistant as they tend to all of the final details like putting the diapers away and getting all of the baby gear working, the insider explained.
After some serious teasing and fan speculation, Kenzo has just officially announced that superstar singer Britney Spears is the new face of the brand’s Collection Memento N° 2 line, a first for the chart-topping singer.
BritBrit fans have been hungry for evidence of Spears’ partnership with Kenzo after a few promotional images of the pop star, wearing clothing with the Kenzo logo on it, were leaked a few weeks ago.
In recent days, Kenzo, a French luxury house founded in 1970 by Japanese designer Kenzo Takad, has released three partial images on the brand’s Instagram, of a mystery blonde wearing three different outfits. Although the model’s face is never shown, commenters were quick to speculate the blonde tresses were Spears’.
On Monday, the fashion house all but confirmed the rumors that the “Toxic” singer would be the face of the brand when it revealed a brief video of the sultry singer strutting her stuff.
The video had the caption, “Are you ready? The new @kenzo campaign will be revealed here on Instagram tomorrow at 5:30PM CET. #KENZO #CollectionMemento2.”
Can we get a yee-haw?

Nick Gordon has been arrested again.
This time, the 29-year-old ex boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown was arrested for violating his bond conditions by having contact with his girlfriend Laura Leal. Gordon was arrested for domestic violence battery against Leal earlier this month.
According to documents obtained by E! News from the Seminole County’s Sheriff’s Office, authorities stopped by Gordon’s residence Mar. 19 and asked if Leal was with him. He said she was. Gordon said Leal entered his residence by inputting a code for the front door’s security system and proceeded to enter his bedroom, where he claimed he was sleeping.
“She showed up at my house and let herself in,” Gordon told the authorities. “She knows my personal door code.”
Gordon told the Sheriff’s Office deputies that Leal was “just hanging out with him.” Leal confirmed she did enter Gordon’s residence via her own means with the door code. She also told the authorities she did not fear for her safety and stopped by his residence to see him.
Gordon was then transported to John E. Polk Correctional Facility. There was no bond as the inmate could not be bailed. At the time of this writing, he was still in custody.
Brugel employs props.
“I really, really like to—especially in scenes when I’m with Lizzie—I like to dress up,” Brugel said. “So, wear like, either reindeer antlers and just walk in in the middle of a take when she’s all serious and just in her moment and just try to break it. All of us have slight awkward senses of humor, so we try to one-up each other.”
Ringo Starr is now a knight.
Prince William knighted the Beatles drummer on Mar. 20 at Buckingham Palace for his services to music.
“It means a lot actually,” the 77-year-old musician, otherwise known as Richard Starkey, told the BBC. “It means recognition for the things we’ve done musically and in life. So, I was really pleased to accept this award.”
With his title as Knight of Bachelor of the British Empire, Starr can now use the title Sir.
Starr attended the Investiture ceremony with his wife Barbara Bach. However, this wasn’t his first visit to Buckingham Palace to receive an honor. In 1965, Queen Elizabeth II appointed Starr and his fellow Beatles members—Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison—Members of the Order of the British Empire. However, Starr told the BBC he was a “bit shaky today on my own.”
It’s the romance that has captivated the world’s attention
Of course, we’re talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The American star and her future royal husband have taken the world by storm ever since news of their secret romance broke the news floodgates in late October 2016. Royal enthusiasts and Suits fans alike have been enamored with every step of their courtship as the two gradually came forward as a public couple and eventually got engaged before the close of 2017.
Now, with their May nuptials just two months away, we’re learning even more behind-the-scenes details about the transatlantic pair and how they came to be thanks to a new book by Katie Nicholl called Harry: Life, Loss, and Love.”
Inside the book, Nicholl takes readers from Harry’s earliest years through to his hopes for the future with Markle by his side. Here are some of the things we learned about Harry and Meghan along the way:
One week after Vanessa Trump filed for divorce from Donald Trump Jr., rumors about the duo’s marriage have started to surface.
“After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways. We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time,” the couple said in a statement to E! News on March 15.
On Monday, Page Six reported that Donald “cheated” on Vanessa with singer Aubrey O’Day in 2011 while she was appearing on Celebrity Apprentice and he was an adviser.
A funny thing happened on the way to the rally…
Former Sex and the City star and current New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon happened upon a picture perfect political moment after her No. 3 train stopped working while en route to her first official campaign event to discuss many issues plaguing the Empire state—namely Manhattan’s transit system.
That’s right, Nixon got stuck on the subway—while attempting to talk to voters about how to fix the subway.
Political consultant Rebecca Katz, who worked on New York City mayor Bill de Blasio‘s first mayoral campaign, tweeted a photo of Nixon departing the subway after the delay and wrote, “That thing when you’re headed to talk about fixing the subways and your train goes out of service. #CuomosMTA.”
But lucky for the 51-year-old actress, she got to use the delay as a means to drive home her point that things needed to change during her talk in Brooklyn’s Brownsville area.
Ron, how could you “put your head in between a cocktail waitress’ breasts”?! And “grinding with multiple fat women”?!
Also, never forget that Snooki and JWOWW had to visit an internet cafe to type up this letter, and used the word “wisely” to throw Ronnie off as to which roommate wrote it.
Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino all join Ronnie, Snooki and JWOWW for the on-screen reunion, while Sammi chose not to participate in Family Vacation.
MTV’s highly anticipated revival premieres Thursday, April 5 at 8 p.m. on MTV, and premiere across Viacom’s international MTV channels in nearly 180 countries. And the network is so confident in our GTL-loving gang’s return that Jersey Shore Family Vacation has already been renewed for a second season.
